Guatemala Flights

Flight options to Guatemala are relatively limited with just one international airport in the country, Guatemala City, and no direct flights from the UK.

Most visitors from the UK fly to Guatemala via the USA although it is also possible to fly via Madrid. Please note that, if flying via the USA, UK passports holders will require an ESTA.

As with flights to the Caribbean & Florida, most outbound flights operate during the day, with return flights operating overnight.

For clients interested in a Multi Country holiday, it is possible (for example) to fly via Miami into Guatemala City and then return from Cancun or Belize to the UK, again via Miami.

British Airways & American Airlines – Heathrow to Guatemala City via Miami

As code share partners, British Airways and American Airlines both offer daily flights from London Heathrow to Miami with onward connections to Guatemala.

Aircraft type from Heathrow to Miami varies depending on the airline and time of year although most flights will offer a choice of cabins.

Total journey time, including the stopover, is normally around 15 hours.

Iberia – Heathrow to Guatemala City via Madrid

Iberia offer frequent flights from Madrid to Guatemala City with connections from London Heathrow.

Please note however that the return flight, from Guatemala City to Madrid, has an additional stopover in San Salvador (El Salvador).

Long-haul flights operate using Airbus A330 aircraft with a choice of 2 or 3 cabins.

Aeromexico – Heathrow to Guatemala City via Mexico City

Aeromexico offer near daily flights from Heathrow to Mexico City with onward connections to Guatemala City.

Unlike flights via the US or Europe, both legs involve overnight flights. The late night departure from London will suit many travellers, as will avoiding having to fly via the US, although this is generally the longest routing to Guatemala City.

On flights between London & Guatemala City, flights are operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a choice of 2 cabins.

If flying Aeromexico, there is also the option to include a Mexico City Stopover for a few days on the way out.
