What exactly is Ojo de Agua?

Fed by a constant, underground volcanic river, Ojo de Agua comprises a couple of sizeable natural pools that remain crystal-clear, cool and mineral-rich year-round.

Visitors can enjoy a refreshing and rejuvenating swim in the turquoise pools, where the gentle temperature and soothing minerals create an ideal environment for relaxation. Whether you’re seeking a refreshing escape from Nicaragua’s tropical heat or simply in search of a picturesque location in which to relax and enjoy a good book, the springs offer the perfect setting.

Surrounded by Lush Island Beauty

Aside from the natural beauty of the spring pools, Ojo de Agua sits within a vibrant landscape filled with towering palms, tropical plants, and shaded resting areas.

Surrounding the pools are numerous soft seating areas, wooden decks and hammocks which allow visitors to enjoy the pools in comfort. On an island famed for its laid-back vibe, this is Ometepe at perhaps its most serene.

Facilities at Ojo de Agua

Despite its beautiful and unspoiled location, Ojo de Agua still manages to cater for visitors with loos, changing rooms, bar, restaurant and a small shop on-site. As a result, it is entirely feasible for visitors to spend an entire day relaxing at the springs.

Popular with solo travellers, couples, families and travellers of pretty much all ages, visitors can swim, float or simply sit by the water and enjoy one’s surroundings. Within the two pools there are shallow sections suitable for young children together, in the lower pool, with a rope swing for the young and young at heart.

Access to the site requires an entrance fee although this fee includes a credit that can be used to purchase food and drink, both of which are reasonably priced.
