Hotel La Moka

Las Terrazas & Soroa, Cuba
Simple Tourist

Located on a steep hill overlooking the somnolent community of Las Terrazas, La Moka is the closest that Cuba comes to a genuine eco-hotel and is a perfect base for lovers of the countryside.

One can easily spend 2 or 3 days exploring the surrounding area although a rental car is recommended for extended stays.

The building itself is perhaps the most imaginatively designed of any hotel in Cuba, seamlessly blending in with the sloping contours and lush vegetation of its surroundings, so much so that the main lobby area is built around a large lime-tree whose branches soar through a skylight in the ceiling.

Designed to be as open to the elements as possible and painted in bright white, La Moka is very much a contemporary take on traditional Spanish, colonial design.

Rooms are comfortable, but no more, although the bathtubs facing out over the forest area a nice touch. In addition to the rooms within the main hotel building, the hotel also manages a number of rooms-attached-to-houses within Las Terrazas community although these are very Spartan and lack the personal touch of a casa particular.

Beyond The Ordinary arrange fully bonded, tailor made holidays and tours to Cuba. Contact one of our experts on 01580 764796, email travel@beyondtheordinary.co.uk or contact us via our website.

If you wish to relax, there is a swimming pool and tennis court set within the hotel gardens while La Moka also has its own bar and restaurant, both with wonderful views, although there is better dining to be had away from the hotel.

Most visitors to La Moka come to enjoy the surrounding countryside and there are a number of guided walks and birdwatching trips that we can arrange.

La Moka is commonly used on our small group, escorted tours of the island, such as our 7 Night Cuba Tour.
