A guide to accommodation options in Santa Clara
Where to stay in Santa Clara
With its convenient, central location, where the Trinidad to Cayo Santa Maria route crosses the main Havana to Santiago highway, and its historical significance, one would expect Santa Clara to have a fair selection of hotels to choose from. It doesn’t.
In the city centre, the only decent hotel option is the recently re-opened Hotel Central Villa Clara. On the city’s outskirts are two hotels that are primarily used by tour groups, Los Caneyes & La Granjita.
As with elsewhere in Cuba, the lack of hotel options in Santa Clara has led to a boom in the number of casa particulars. Although the quality and quantity of casa particulars in Santa Clara doesn’t match other key destinations in Cuba, there are several good options including our favourite, the Autentica Pergola.
