It might be Cuba’s second largest city but options for casa particulars in Santiago de Cuba are surprisingly limited, both in terms of quantity and quality.
As with Havana, location is important and most visitors to the city will want to be located in the city centre, within walking distance of Parque Cespedes.
The slight drawback to this is that many of the casas in the city centre are apartments without any outside space.
While it’s not a casa particular, the hotel San Basilio is small, characterful and more personal than any of the other hotels in the city and is therefore often viewed as a good compromise option.
