Luxury hotel with idyllic, lakefront setting

Perched on a steep bank with stunning views across the lake and to the distant volcanoes, Casa Palopo enjoys a tranquil setting a short drive from the main town of Panajachel, home to bars, restaurants and general tourist facilities.

The hotel itself is packed with exquisite art, antiques and curious from around the country and beyond; it is well worth taking the time to have a good look around, much as you would at a gallery or museum.

The main building is dominated by a lounge / bar that manages to be both spacious and snug at the same time (with the prize-seating being in front of the log-fire) together with Restaurant 6.8 that offers a choice of dining indoors or on the outside patio with views across the lake. The quality of dining is unmatched in the area, serving an eclectic mix of Guatemalan and pan-European cuisine.

To the side of the property, and enjoying the same wonderful views, is Casa Palopo’s small pool.

There are just 16 rooms at the hotel, each different to the other in size, layout and style but each and every room has been stylishly furnished and decorated in a contemporary, rustic style.

Most visitors to the hotel will arrive with pre-arranged local sightseeing but, if not, the hotel can arrange a multitude of local trips.
