One of Cuba’s oldest hotels, dating back to 1869, the Melia Union is one of only two hotels in Cienfuegos city centre and is well positioned to explore its key sites of interest.
Designed in the neo-classical style, the Union is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and visually striking hotels in Cuba, the pale blue of its external walls exuding a sense of calm amidst the busy surrounding streets.
Inside, the hotel is light and airy with a small, welcoming courtyard pool and a rooftop terrace that affords wonderful views of the city. Rooms too are generous in size and reflect the hotel’s colonial heritage.
Since it was taken over by Spanish hotel group, Melia, the Union has seen a marked improvement in standards across the board and, at last, is beginning to deliver on its potential.
