Hotel Akumal Caribe

Akumal itself is man-made tourist village and the majority of buildings in the area are houses and condos rather than hotels. Set amongst them, and with a spattering of nearby shops, restaurants & bars close by, the Hotel Akumal Caribe is simple, laid-back affair positioned directly along a beautiful sheltered beach with plenty of shade.

This main hotel block looks out over a pleasant swimming pool which is turn looks out over the palm tree lined beach and surrounding bay.

There is a simple bar and restaurant, Lol Ha, again overlooking the beach, as well as the aforementioned nearby alternatives. Also just a short stroll away is the Akumal Dive Centre, a long-standing and reliable operator which can arrange diving both out at sea as well as in the Yucatan’s famous cenotes.

In terms of accommodation, and with 61 rooms in total, the Akumal Caribe comprises a number of simple, slightly exposed bungalows and a main hotel block with smaller, but generally slightly better standard rooms.

In addition to the main hotel, just a short stroll away is the Cannon House, a self contained property split into two separate self catering units, the Cannon House Studio and the 2-bedroom Cannon House Suite.

Both units feature well equipped kitchens although guests are free to pre-book breakfast at the main hotel as well as using its swimming pool.

With its 2 bedrooms (1 double & 1 twin), the Cannon House Suite is ideal for families.
