When one considers that there weren’t any hotels in Cancun (40 minutes drive north) up until 1970, the fact that Petit Lafitte dates back to 1973 means that it really can lay claim to being one of the original beach resorts along the Yucatan Peninsula’s fabled Riviera Maya coastline.

In total, the Petit Lafitte has some 54 rooms split between 30 rooms in the main hotel block and a further 24 bungalows. Within the main accommodation block, rooms are divided into Standard, Partial Seaview & Premier Seaview rooms. All rooms come with a/c, fan, balcony, coffee making facilities and wifi.

The 24 bungalows too are sub-divided into Jungle View, Ocean View or Ocean Front and have the same features and amenities as the rooms in the main block.

Features of the hotel include a decent-sized swimming pool and a Wellness centre where, in addition to yoga sessions, a number of treatments can be arranged. The hotel even features its own traditional Temazcal.

Perhaps the hotel’s most charming and memorable feature, especially for younger guests, is its small wildlife rescue centre, located at the back of the property.

In terms of food & drink, the hotel’s Kin’s Restaurant serves a combination of wonderful combination of Mexican & International dishes while the beachfront bar offers a wide variety of cocktails, mocktails, wine and beer. If margarita is your tipple, you can even learn how to make the perfect version with the resident mixologist.
