The stand out accommodation for us in Baracoa, and one of the best casa particulares in eastern Cuba, Villa Paradiso is approximately 6 to 8 minutes’ walk from the centre of Baracoa although that does involve a lot of steps.
Accordingly, this property is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues who plans on doing any walking.
In terms of public spaces, there is a large, shared-access terrace where breakfast is served in the morning and where guests can lounge during the day and take in the views. For art lovers, Villa Paradiso also showcases the work of a variety of local artists as well as displaying the owners’ collection of Cuban classic movie posters.
Villa Paradiso features just 3 bedrooms, each of which comes with an ensuite bathroom, fan, a/c, mini-fridge and large crystal windows and doors that allow light (and cooling breezes) to flood into the rooms.
In terms of the 3 bedrooms……
El Yunque is the smallest of the bedrooms, with just 1 double bed. However, it does come with its own private balcony and is slightly more private as it stands apart from the other 2 bedrooms.
Duaba is a medium-sized bedroom. It has 1 double bed and 1 single bed with direct access to the large, shared terrace previously mentioned.
Yumurí is the largest of the bedrooms. It has 1 double bed and 1 single bed and it too has direct access to the shared terrace.
Please note that the owners have a small dog and a cat. Guests can smoke in the terraces and balconies, but smoking is not permitted inside the bedrooms.
Quite aside from its magnificent views, great rooms and lovely breakfast, the owners of Villa Paradiso, Roberto & Manuel, are passionate and very knowledgeable about both Baracoa and the surrounding countryside and are on hand with advice for anything from where to eat to where to find the best nearby beaches.
