Located directly on Isla Mujeres’ most beautiful beach, Playa Norte, Hotel Cabanas Maria del Mar provides a good value option for those seeking a relaxing, low-key beach holiday away from the mega resorts.
There are no stand out design features or lavish facilities at the hotel, which is slightly dated and old fashioned, but the welcome is friendly and there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants nearby.
The Cabanas Maria del Mar also has its own open-air bar and restaurant on the beach, Buho, featuring a long-standing happy hour that takes place at sunset every evening. While the beach is clearly the main draw here, the hotel also has a swimming pool set slightly further back.
There are some 73 rooms in total split into 3 separate sections. The Castle section contains 18 rooms and is located in the same building as the restaurant and offer the best quality accommodation with partial sea-views from some rooms.
The Tower section contains 24 rooms, all just a few steps from the beach. Finally, the Cabanas section comprises some 31 rooms all located around the hotel pool area.
