Colonial era hotel in the heart of historic Merida.
The hotel takes its name from the first Bishop of the Yucatan, Diego de Landa, while the building itself was originally part of the Monjas church, the second oldest church in Merida.
Located in the city’s historic centre, La Mision de Fray Diego is ideally located for exploring the city’s many attractions, the vast majority of which are within easy walking distance.
Entering the hotel from the street, guests first encounter the hotel’s tranquil, main courtyard garden together with a small bar / breakfast area.
Beyond the initial, main courtyard is a second courtyard, this time containing the hotel pool, the perfect place to relax after a day’s exploration.
The small restaurant serves breakfast as well as regional cuisine for lunch and dinner. Due to its location, there are numerous nearby bars and restaurants.
In total, La Mision de Fray Diego features 30 rooms, all elegantly decorated and furnished in traditional, colonial style.
There are 20 standard rooms together with a selection of larger rooms including superior, junior suites and a main suite. All rooms feature a/c, safe, tv and wifi.
