Cuba Car & Driver Holidays

While less common than in some other parts of the world, we are able to arrange private tours of Cuba with a Car & Driver / Guide.

Generally speaking, the Driver / Guide will be one-and-the-same although, for larger groups, we would arrange for both a Driver and a Guide.

All guides are experienced and speak English although, subject to availability, guides with other language skills can also be arranged.

As all our itineraries are entirely flexible, all Car & Driver holidays can be tailor made to clients’ individual requirements and, as such, there is no typical itinerary.

That said, the vast majority of our clients begin and end their Cuba holiday in Havana which is where the majority of scheduled flights arrive.

After a few days exploring Havana (and we would suggest a minimum of 3 or 4 nights), clients might then meet up with their Driver / Guide and head west to the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba, using the beautiful Vinales Valley as a base.

From there, it’s an approximate 6 hour drive back past Havana to either Santa Clara or Cienfuegos although, with the latter, it is also possible to spend a night or two at the Zapata Peninsula & Bay of Pigs enroute.

This central part of Cuba is home to some of Cuba’s most attractive and visitor friendly colonial towns and cities. In addition to Cienfuegos & Santa Clara, your Driver / Guide can introduce you to the charms of Remedios, Sancti Spiritus and, of course, Trinidad.

In addition to its historical legacy, the region is also home to beautiful, unspoiled countryside, especially within the Escambray Mountains. Visits to El Nicho and the Guanaroca Lagoon are both highly recommended.

For those clients who wish to visit the whole island, it is possible to continue east to the likes of Camaguey, Bayamo, Santiago de Cuba and even Baracoa.

Please note however that, with the current lack of reliable domestic flights within Cuba, clients would need to drive west to east and then backtrack on largely the same route from east back to west.

Some clients choose to end their Cuba Car & Driver holiday with time at the beach which we can also arrange. The vast majority of Cuba’s beach hotels are located along its north coast although there are lovely beaches (and lots to see and do nearby) close to the aforementioned Trinidad on the south coast. Indeed, Trinidad is the only place on the island where one can combine the beach with ‘the real Cuba’.
